Privacy Policy
Last updated 24 August 2026
This policy explains what Pyrdo (“Pyrdo”, “we”) collects when you use Pyrdo, why we process it, how long we keep it, and what you can ask us to do with it. It is written to be read, not to be survived.
What we collect
| Data | Why | Kept for |
|---|---|---|
| Email address | To create and sign you into your account, and to send you account email such as password resets | Until you delete your account |
| Your questions and Pyrdo’s answers | To show you your conversation history | Until you delete the chat or your account. Free accounts: see retention below |
Text extracted from documents you upload (doc_text) | So later questions in the same chat can be answered from the document without re-uploading it | Stored with the chat, and deleted with it |
| Plan, credit counts and usage counters | To apply your plan’s limits and to bill you | Until you delete your account |
| Referral code and referral records | To credit referral rewards | Until you delete your account |
| IP address and request timestamps | Rate limiting and abuse prevention | Short-lived; kept only as long as the rate-limit window |
We do not run advertising trackers, sell personal data, or build advertising profiles.
Uploaded documents
When you attach a file, Pyrdo extracts its text on our server and stores that text against the chat. We do not keep the original file, only the extracted text, and only up to your plan’s character limit. Deleting the chat deletes the extracted text with it.
Do not upload material you are not permitted to share, and be aware that anything you upload is sent to our AI subprocessor to produce an answer.
The AI provider
Pyrdo does not run its own language model. To produce an answer we send your question, the recent messages in that conversation, and the extracted document text to a third-party AI provider under contract to us. We send no more than that: not your email address, not your name, not your billing details.
That provider is located outside the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area, in a country with no UK or EU adequacy decision, and its published policy states that it uses the inputs it receives to train and improve its own models. It says it encrypts and de-identifies input before using it that way. It commits to no specific retention period, saying only that data is kept for as long as an account exists. It names no specific legal transfer mechanism, referring instead to “appropriate safeguards” in general terms.
Its privacy policy also states expressly that it does not cover the end users of applications built on its platform. You are such an end user. That policy therefore gives you nothing you could enforce against the provider directly, and the duty to tell you what happens to your data sits with us instead. This page is us doing that, and the honest position is that once a request leaves Pyrdo we can neither control nor verify what becomes of it. Treat anything you send as having left our control at that point.
In practice this means: do not upload anything you would mind a third party holding. Lecture slides, textbooks, your own essays and your own notes are what Pyrdo is for. Medical records, identity documents, other people’s personal data and anything under a confidentiality obligation are not.
Who else handles your data
We use a small number of service providers to run Pyrdo, and we describe them by category rather than by company name:
- A hosting and database provider, which stores your account and chats.
- An email provider, which delivers account email such as your sign-up confirmation, password resets and security notices. It receives your email address and the contents of those messages.
- A payment provider, which handles subscriptions. We never see or store your card details.
- The AI provider described above.
Each is bound by a contract limiting them to processing your data on our instructions. If you want to know which companies they are, email contact@pyrdo.com and we will tell you. You do not need a reason and it does not have to be a formal request. Any other question about how your data is handled can go to the same address and we will answer it.
Retention
Chats belonging to free accounts are deleted automatically once they have not been opened for 90 days. The text extracted from any document attached to them is removed sooner, after 30 days, by a separate daily job. The conversation stays; the uploaded material does not. Both are real deletions carried out by scheduled jobs, not flags on a row.
Paid accounts, and free accounts holding referral-reward Pro time, are subject to neither job and keep their chats and documents until they delete them or close the account. If a subscription lapses, both windows start again from the day it ended rather than from whenever each chat was last opened, so cancelling never makes an old conversation immediately deletable.
Everything else is kept until you delete it or close your account.
Your rights
If you are in the UK or EEA you have the right to access, correct, export, delete and restrict processing of your personal data, and to object to it. California residents have equivalent rights under the CCPA, including the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them.
To exercise any of them, including export and deletion, email contact@pyrdo.com from the address on your account. We will respond within 30 days. You can also delete individual chats yourself at any time from the sidebar.
Questions or complaints about your data go to contact@pyrdo.com. You may also contact the data protection authority in your country.
Children
Pyrdo is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Database access is constrained by row-level security so one account cannot read another’s rows. Session tokens are stored in HttpOnly cookies rather than in browser storage. No system is perfectly secure, and we do not claim otherwise.
Changes
If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top and tell account holders by email before the change takes effect.
